Find Construction and Engineering expertise in Pakistan

Construction activity accounts for 2.6% of Pakistan’s GDP and employs around 5% of the labour force (2008). The industry has declined over the last thirty years, as its share in Pakistan’s GDP has halved since 1970 and the various national construction giants (such as National Construction Limited) have all collapsed. That there are no construction companies listed in the top 100 firms in the Karachi Stock Exchange is cited as another sign of this industry’s decline. Despite these problems, the construction industry was recently valued at $3.4billion in 2011 in terms of assets.

The All Pakistan Contractors Association (APCA) represents the interests of the construction industry, whilst the Institution of Engineers Pakistan regulates and aims for best practice in the engineering sector.
