Find Oil and Gas expertise in Rwanda

The Ministry of Natural Resources (MININFRA) is responsible for fuel storage and is taking the lead on petroleum exploration. Major petroleum companies include Kobil Petroleum Rwanda and Engen, which holds 19 service stations, mostly situated in Kigali. Most of the products are imported from Kenya and a small amount from Tanzania. Rwanda has a natural reserve of methane gas in Lake Kivu; it is estimated that the lake has 55 billion cubic metres of methane gas, with a further 150 to 250 million cubic metres of methane being generated annually (2009). The resource is equally shared between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and development initiatives are being undertaken to explore the underutilised natural resource.
