Research Institutes in Saint Lucia

St Lucia has a number of independent research institutions involved in undertaking research across many disciplines. The Folk Research Centre was established in 1973 as a repository for the country’s cultural heritage and to act as a core body for the research, recording and presentation of the island’s rich heritage. The Folk Research centre gains funding from both government and commercial sources, for example the Ministry of Education and the Bank of St Lucia. The National Research and Development Foundation is a private and non-governmental institute which undertakes, conducts, promotes and monitors business and scientific research in the interest of socioeconomic development. Health related research bodies include the Caribbean Environmental Health Institute which has its laboratories and facilities in St Lucia.
