The Electric Power Corporation of Samoa (EPC), a wholly government owned corporation, generates, transmits, distribute and sells electricity in Samoa. About 96% of the population have access to electricity.  The chairman of the corporation is the Minister of Works, Transport and Infrastructure. Electricity is available on both islands of Upolu and Savaii through its power generation from diesel, hydropower and biofuels. The proportion of this usage is roughly 65% biomass and 35% petroleum/ electricity (2007).
