There is no upstream oil industry in Samoa; Samoa has no sources of oil or gas of its own, and has to import all of its supplies, which amount to around 1,000 barrels of oil a day. Downstream industry imports of petroleum products are handled exclusively by Exxon Mobil, though this is subject to rotation every five years, in order to maintain efficiency and value. Petroleum Products Samoa (PPS) owns the sole petroleum fuels distribution contract in Samoa.
