Find Advertising, Marketing and PR expertise in Seychelles

Advertising, marketing and PR is a developing industry in Seychelles. It has historically been mainly centred on its large tourism industry and these businesses continue to dominate the field.

There are some sixteen advertising and marketing agencies working in Seychelles, including iMedia (Seychelles) Ltd, Switch (Pty) Ltd and Behaa Advertising with some firms offering sophisticated and wide ranging advertising and marketing services. As of 2012 there were no listed PR companies and advertising for large companies is often produced in house. The Seychelles Marketing Board (SMB) is responsible for the international marketing of Seychelles with a view to launching the country into the community of international, export-based economies.

Although the University of Seychelles does not run a course consisting of purely marketing, advertising or PR subject matter, it does run a BSc in Business Administration (Marketing).

In terms of supply and demand indicators, The World Economic Forum Global Competitiveness Report 2012-2013 shows that Seychelles’ marketing industry and buyer sophistication are below global averages. In ease of marketing South Africa comes 106th out of 144 countries worldwide with a score of 3.5 out of 7 where 1 indicates that little use is made of sophisticated marketing tools and techniques and 7 means that they are extensively used. Its ranking reflects a score that is below the world mean of 4.1. In buyer sophistication, a score of 1 means that buyers base their decisions solely on the lowest possible cost and 7 means that buyers decide according to a sophisticated analysis of performance attributes. South Africa scores 3.2 out of 7, just below the world average of 3.5 and in 91st place worldwide meaning that buyers put slightly more emphasis on price than product performance.
