There is potential for undiscovered large offshore petroleum reserves in Seychelles. Houston-based Petroquest International Incorporated and Dubai-based East-African Exploration (EAX) operate within Seychelles and have production agreements with the Seychellois government and plan to start drilling in 2012 after government-sponsored seismic studies covering 18,000 square kilometres in Seychelles’s territorial waters.

The quarrying industry in does not play a significant role in the economy of Seychelles. There has been modest production for local use of clay, coral, sand and stone, as well as sites dedicated to dimension stone on Mahe island in past years but quantities of extraction have not been reported in hard figures.
