There is little publishing industry in the Seychelles, with Nation Publishing Services being the main publisher on the island. The remaining publishers produce the islands’ newspapers; Le Monde Diplomatique, published in English and French; Nouveau Seychelles Weekly, published by Weekly Publications and Seychelles Nation, the government daily newspaper.
Most of the literature published in Seychelles has a heavy African-influence. The Kreol Institute publishes books by local Creole writers as well as translating some international publications into Creole. The Kreol Institute supports the Creole language and artists who develop the art form in fiction and other forms of literature, such as folk tales. Seychelles is represented by the African Publishers Network.

The University of Seychelles is the main university on the island and has a total enrolment of 300 students and 12 degree programmes (2011). The main language in Seychelles is Creole, English and French, Creole is normally written rather than spoken.
