Find Construction and Engineering expertise in Sierra Leone

Construction accounts for about 2% of Sierra Leone’s GDP (2008). Most construction projects are undertaken by the government, many of which are assisted by international organisations like the UNDP (United Nations Development Program) and the DFID (Department for International Development) whilst sector specific arms of government like the JSDP (Justice Sector Development Programme) assist with infrastructure construction programs to enhance their effective service delivery, like the building of prisons as an example. The Chinese government sponsored the construction of a naval base at Kingtom that provides accommodation for the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) whilst the Sierra Leone Housing Corporation (SALHOC) seeks to provide housing and housing services for every sector of society. A part of their overall goal includes cultivating relationship with the private sector, NGOs and other relevant arms within the public sector. Part of the World Bank’s assistance to Sierra Leone includes an infrastructure development project to help reconstruct selected priority roads, port and airport facilities in the country.
