Property and Real Estate development in Sierra Leone is a key focus of the government as a potential revenue stream for the country. Foreign investors cannot own land but are able to lease land for up to 99 years to essentially serve the same purpose. The Ministry of Lands, Country Planning and the Environment has the sole responsibility of ensuring the proper management of all lands in the country. Real estate and other forms of infrastructure development are supported by the government of Sierra Leone and the Sea View Estate, an initiative in which the government partnered with and commissioned Regimanuel Gray Limited, a private company based in Ghana and the National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT), an indication to foreign investors that effective real estate development in Sierra Leone is a feasible option.
