President

The President of Sierra Leone is defined in the country’s constitution as the head of state as well as the supreme executive authority of the Republic and the commander-in-chief of the armed forces.  The president is vested with executive authority. Presidential and parliamentary elections are held every five years under universal adult suffrage and proportional representation. The tenure of the President of Sierra Leone may not be longer than two five year terms, regardless of whether the terms are consecutive or not.
