President
The President of Singapore is the country’s head of state. The president is elected by the citizens of Singapore in accordance with any law made by the Legislature. The president holds office for a term of six years from the date on which he assumes office. The role of the president is largely ceremonial and includes appointing the prime minister, dissolving Parliament and signing bills into law.
