Singapore possesses a wide range of accommodation, ranging from budget facilities to modern, first-class hotels. The latter usually have a vast selection of facilities, including swimming pools, health clubs, several restaurants, full business services, and shopping arcades. Reservations made in advance are essential. All rooms are subject to a 4% tax and 10% service charge. There is no formal star system of grading in the country, though many of Singapore’s hotels readily surpass the international system’s standards.
