Find Electricity and Power expertise in Solomon Islands

The state owned Solomon Islands Electricity Authority (SIEA) has a de facto monopoly of the country’s electricity market. It runs the entire electricity power system from generation to distribution. Total electricity generation was 77GWh in 2007 and is predominately produced using diesel. The Ministry of Mines, Energy and Rural Electrification is the government body responsible for the supervision of the country’s electricity industry. The SIEA is accountable to this ministry and the minister appoints the SIEA’s directors.
