Find Insurance and Reinsurance expertise in Solomon Islands

As of 2009 the Solomon Island’s insurance industry was comprised of two licensed insurers, three insurance brokers and three insurance agencies. These offer a range of services including general and life insurance. Life insurance firms must have adequate assets to match their liabilities if they wish to provide other types of insurance. Foreign insurance firms are permitted to establish in the Solomon Islands via a subsidiary or a branch. Supervision of the sector was handed to the Central Bank in 2004. Thus, all insurance companies established in the Solomon Islands, including those that are branches or subsidiaries of foreign firms, must register with the Central Banks. Registration must be renewed annually.
