Find Oil and Gas expertise in Solomon Islands

The Solomon Islands has no indigenous sources of natural gas or oil and lacks oil refining facilities, therefore relying on imports to fulfil its energy requirements. In 2010, oil was imported at a rate of 2,000 barrels per day, and refined petroleum makes up 28% of the country’s total yearly imports (2012). The largest company in the downstream oil industry is South Pacific Oil Ltd. Recently the potential of the country’s palm and coconut oil industries to produce biofuels has been recognised and in 2010 Solomon Tropical Products began commercially producing biodiesel from coconut oil.
