Research Institutes in Solomon Islands

There is a lack of independent research institutes within the Solomon Islands; however, the University of the South Pacific conducts research into local and regional interest to the Solomon Islands including meteorology, effects of global warming, agriculture, economics and politics. The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) executes studies of the coral reef and sea life around the islands, focusing on preservation and sustainable local agriculture while the UNIYA Jesuit Social Justice Institute has been following the political and social progress of the Solomon Islands after the political conflict and violence that ended in 2003.
