Research and Consultancy in Sri Lanka

Consultancy services in Sri Lanka span all sectors of the economy. The sector has been driven primarily by government investment in infrastructure. This has especially been beneficial for the engineering and technical consultancy subsectors and special expertise has been gained during disasters such as the 2004 Tsunami. Sri Lanka is also keen to develop its consultancy sector as an exportable professional service. A notable example of a Sri Lankan technical consultancy firm that now exports its services is The Lanka Hydraulic Institute, a firm with expertise in water resources and coastal engineering, who engage in projects in countries including Algeria and South Korea.
The ‘big four’ consultancy firms also offer services in Sri Lanka, namely auditing, tax and forensic accounting.
