Education NGOs and CSOs in Sri Lanka

There are numerous non-governmental and civil society organisations working in the field of education in Sri Lanka. Notable among these are the Coalition for Educational Development Sri Lanka, a Commonwealth-funded organisation which seeks to promote the involvement of civil society in the formulation and implementation of education policy from the community to national level; and the Mentally Handicapped Children & Families Educational Project, a NGO who provide community based, non-institutionalised care to children with special needs. The Ceylon Teachers Union is the main body representing the professional rights of teachers in Sri Lanka.
