Standards and Regulation in St Kitts and Nevis
St Kitts and Nevis ranks number 95 out of 183 in the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business Index (2011), with a particularly high score gained for ‘protecting investors’. A high ranking on the Ease of Doing Business Index means the regulatory environment is more conducive to the starting and operation of local businesses. St Kitts and Nevis is a member of the CARICOM Regional Organisation for Standards and Quality, with the St Kitts and Nevis Bureau of Standards acting as the country’s national standards body. The Eastern Caribbean Securities Regulatory Commission (ECSRC) is St Kitts and Nevis’ principal economic regulator, and also serves other countries in the Eastern Caribbean Securities Market (ECSM).
