Governor-General

St Kitts and Nevis is a constitutional monarchy. The Governor-General of the Federation of St Kitts and Nevis is the official representative of Queen Elizabeth II, and acts on the advice of the prime minister and the cabinet. The governor-general is appointed by Her Majesty on the recommendation of the prime minister and performs the functions of the monarch in her absence, including Royal Assent for all bills and authorisation of all government appointments. The residence and office of the governor-general is located in Government House in Basseterre. Nevis has a deputy governor-general.
