One of the main local publishing houses is West Indies Publishing Ltd. which mainly publishes tourist magazines. Due to the large print run, all publications for the company are printed in England. International academic publishing companies such as Oxford University Press publish many English language teaching materials and educational textbooks for schools. Macmillan Caribbean Guides also have a prominent presence in the country.
St Vincent and the Grenadines are not listed on the World Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness Report 2012–13 for intellectual property protection; however nearby island Trinidad and Tobago is placed 81 out of 144 countries with a score of 3.4 out of 7.0 and Venezuela is ranked 143 out of 144 countries with a score of 1.7 out of 7.0.
