Find Water and Sanitation expertise in Tonga

Tonga has around 30km2 of water and freshwater sources are mainly from ground water; collection methods include rainwater harvesting and extraction from porous limestone substrate. The Tonga Water Board is the supplier of water and they own the infrastructure associated. The Ministry of Health regulates this under the Tongan Water Board Act which was established by the monarch and the legislative assembly in 2000. There is no centralised reticulated sewerage system in Tonga; waste water is managed by on-site systems, with supervision by the Ministry of Health.
