Health:A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required from travellers over one year of age arriving from an infected area. Vaccinations against tuberculosis and hepatitis B are recommended. Comprehensive medical and dental facilities for residents and visitors are provided by the government.
Customs:Sundays are church days for the mostly Christian communities, which tend to close down.
Business:Business hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday.
Communications:The international access code for Tonga is +676. There are no area codes. Coverage is limited to Nuku’alofa and a few internet cafes exist.
Duty Free:Persons over 18 years of age may import 200 cigarettes or 250 grams of cigars or 250 grams of tobacco without paying duty while importing alcohol is permitted only to persons above 21 years of age. A reasonable quantity of perfumes, camera and personal belongings are allowed. The import of arms, ammunition and pornography is prohibited. The export of valuable artifacts and certain flora and fauna is restricted.
