Research and Consultancy in Tuvalu
Tuvalu has an absence of indigenous consultancy firms, and instead employs services from multinational companies based in other countries. The government of Tuvalu advertises tenders for consultancy projects in sectors such as environment, tourism, energy, power and sustainable development. Past projects have included a study of renewable energy and energy efficiency at the Tuvalu electricity corporation, the Tuvalu National Biodiversity Strategy Action Plan (NBSAP), and the Tuvalu Photovoltaic Electricity Network Integration Project. Examples of firms providing these services include TRIPP consultants, which is a Brisbane based firm specializing in the provision of consultancy services to the tourism sector. The Australian based Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEEP) has consulted the Tuvaluan government on energy sector projects.
