Find Electricity and Power expertise in Uganda

The Electricity Regulatory Authority is the independent body that oversees and regulates the electricity sector in Uganda. The state-owned Uganda Electricity Transmission Company is responsible for electricity transmission. Electricity generation is the responsibility of the Electricity Generation Co. Ltd (UEGCL), which owns the two major hydropower plants at Valubaale (180 Megawatts – MW) and Kiira (200 MW). About 17 MW are supplied by a few small hydropower plants. The government has a policy to have hydroelectricity accessed by all Ugandans by 2025.
