The media environment in Uganda is regarded by independent observers as partly free. The country’s constitution provides for freedom of expression in the media. The English-language papers include The Economy, Financial Times, Guide, The Monitor, The Star and the state-owned national newspaper, New Vision. UBC TV, operated by Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC), is the national network, while the private networks include WBS, Pulse TV and Nation TV. The main private radio stations are Radio Simba, Capital Radio, KFM, Radio One, Sanyu FM, City FM and Central Broadcasting Service (CBS). BBC World Service is widely available.
