Among Uganda’s trade unions, there are many noteworthy examples, such as the Amalgamated Transport and General Workers’ Union (ATGWU), which is responsible for organising and representing its members in the transport, oils, chemical and private security industries; the Uganda Medical Workers’ Union (UMWU), which represents the rights of the health workers in the country; and the Uganda Hotel, Food, Tourism and Allied Workers’ Union (UHFTAWU).
