In comparison, nearby countries France and Germany are placed 9 and 10 out of 144 countries, both with a score of 5.6 out of 7.0.

The London Book Fair is an annual event and is said to be one of the largest books fairs in the world for domestic and international publishing houses to showcase their works. The London Book Fair celebrated its 43 year anniversary in 2014.
In 2009, the annual turnover for the printing industry was estimated at GBP£12.07 billion. The British Printing Industries Federation (BPIF) is the main association which supports the interests of the industry. PrintWeek is a website dedicated to the print industry and gives up-to-date knowledge of what is happening in the industry. The BPIF states that 30% of turnover is made up by the newspapers, magazines, books and brochures product sector and 34% of turnover is through advertising literature, event programmes and tickets product sector.
