National Agencies
The United Kingdom has national agencies of various form and independence. Many of these, styled executive agencies, are statutory bodies backed by Acts of Parliament. Some work with ministries and some report directly to parliament. They include amongst many Companies House, the UK Statistics Authority, the Criminal Records Bureau, the UK Border Agency and the Food Standards Agency and UK Intellectual Property Office.
