National Agencies

There are many national agencies in Tanzania working across many areas including capacity building, health, education and sustainable development. National agencies are publicly funded bodies, commissions, state-owned enterprises, or authorities whose establishment is backed by an Act of Parliament. They include, the National Housing Corporation (NHC) who work to develop and facilitate the provision of high quality housing and other buildings for residential and commercial purposes; the Tanzania Food and Drugs Authority (TFDA) who are responsible for controlling the quality, safety and effectiveness of food, drugs, cosmetics and medical devices; and the Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA) who are responsible for licensing and regulating the postal services, broadcasting services and electronic communications sectors.
