Tourism in United Republic of Tanzania
Tanzania has a spectacular landscape of mainly three physiographic regions, namely the Islands and the coastal plains to the east, the inland saucer-shaped plateau, and the highlands. Africa’s highest mountain, Mount Kilamanjaro, is in Tanzania and is the only free-standing mountain in the world that can simply be walked up. Tanzania has more land devoted to wildlife than anywhere else in the world, and is home to several world famous national parks and game reserves, such as the Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, Selous Game Reserve, Lake Manyara and Mkomazi Game Reserve. The islands of Zanzibar and Pemba are ringed by coral reefs, where scuba-diving and snorkelling are very popular.
