Folsom has worked with a number of public and private knowledge exchange programmes in the field of health care. A graduate of the University of Virginia and the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, she was deputy director for programme evaluation and legislation for Medicaid in the state of Maryland and served for two years as a US Peace Corps community health volunteer in Burkina Faso.
