The Ministry of Education in Singapore is responsible for directing the formulation and implementation of education policies. It has control of the development and administration of Government and Government-aided primary schools, secondary schools, junior colleges, and a centralised institute. The Council for Private Education registers private schools. Other education agencies include the Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board, and the Singapore Accreditation Council (SAC), which ensures the conformity of all aspects of educational assessment within the country. Singapore Education is a joint-agency initiative launched in 2003 to establish and market the country as a premier education hub and help international students make an informed decision about studying in Singapore.
