Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in Belize accounted for an estimated 63 per cent majority of all mortality in 2008. The most prevalent NCDs in Belize are cardiovascular diseases, which accounted for 24 per cent of total deaths across all age groups in 2008. Cancers, diabetes and non-communicable variants of respiratory diseases contributed 12 per cent, nine per cent and four per cent to total mortality respectively (2008).
