The most commonly diagnosed mental illness in Bangladesh is schizophrenia. Of all psychiatric disorders identified in the country, 29.6 per cent were related to psychoactive substance misuse (2009). Neuropsychiatric disorders contributed an estimated 11.2 per cent of the global burden of disease in 2008.
