Sound Seekers’ aim is to work towards alleviating deafness and hearing loss in developing Commonwealth countries.

Foundation: 1959

Officers: Chair: Judith Roberts; Vice-Chair: Ivan Tucker OBE PhD; Treasurer: Soren Presser-Velder; Chief Executive: Lucy Carter

Activities: Sound Seekers works in partnership with host governments and key NGOs to develop hospital-based audiology services and community outreach services via a mobile HARK! (hearing assessment, treatment and research clinic). It targets children who live in areas where access to screening of hearing is difficult or non-existent. The organisation trains key personnel in-country to conduct hearing assessments, fit hearing aids, advise on ear care and to look after and maintain equipment. Hearing aids and audiology equipment are recycled as appropriate.
