KwaZulu-Natal Drak Mountains

KwaZulu-Natal is home to the Drakensburg mountain range – a world Heritage site with the highest concentration of San Bushman rock paintings in Africa – and Durban, one of the fastest growing urban areas in the world. The province has undergone rapid industrialisation thanks to an abundant water supply and labour resources, and is the centre of South Africa’s aluminium industry. The province may be the third smallest, but has the second largest population of 10.3 million people. The province is divided into one metropolitan municipality – the eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality – and ten district municipalities which can in turn be sub-divided into 50 local municipalities.
