Luweero

Luweero, sometimes spelt ‘Luwero’, is a district located in the Central Region of Uganda. Agriculture is the mainstay of Luweero’s economy, employing over 85% of the active labour force. The northern areas of the district engage in livestock rearing, while bee keeping is becoming an increasingly popular economic activity in the district. The south of the district focuses more on subsistence farming for both consumption and export, particularly around the towns of Wobulenzi, Bombo and Bamunanika. Main crops produced include maize, cassava, plantain, sweet bananas, potatoes, pineapples, passion fruits and flowers.
