Buyende
Buyende is a rural district located in the Busoga sub-region of the Eastern Region, Uganda. Prior to 2010, the district was part of Kamuli District. Lake Kyoga is a prominent feature of the district and offers ample fishing opportunities, making this one of the main economic activities in Buyende. More than 40 species of fish have been found in the lake and surrounding rivers and wetlands. Cattle rearing is another main economic activity in the district, where meat and dairy products tend to be sold rather than domestically consumed. The Busoga Tourism initiative is currently at work to promote local attractions such as Lake Kyoga and local wildlife.
