National Agencies
National agencies in Canada are involved in many areas including environmental assessment, international development, public health, and even space programmes. These institutions are publicly-funded bodies, commissions or authorities whose establishment is often backed by an act of parliament. Notable examples include the Canadian International Development Agency, the lead agency for development assistance, which ensures that assistance is efficient and accountable; the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), which administers tax laws; and the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (CEAA), which works to provide high-quality environmental assessment to support sustainable development.
