The Foreign Investment Promotion Board was set up by the Indian government in order to efficiently deal with matters relating to FDI, and to promote further investment into the country. It focuses its efforts on international companies, non-resident Indians, and outside investors. It is chaired by the Secretary Industry of the Department of Industrial Promotion and Policy. There are many export promotion councils concentrating on respective sectors of the economy such as the Overseas Construction Council of India, Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), and Tea Board. Examples of related government agencies working mainly for local-oriented markets include the Small Industries Development Bank of Indiathe National Council of Applied Economic Research, and the Goa Financial and Investment Corporation.
