Find Construction and Engineering expertise in Malawi
Construction contributes 4% of GDP (2007). During the 1970s and 80s, Lilongwe was transformed from a small town to a capital city and seat of government. The bulk of this construction was carried out by South African companies. In recent years, the local building industry has responded to a stronger economy and a marked increase in government expenditure on infrastructure, especially road-building. Relevant professional bodies include Malawi Institute of Architects and Malawi Institution of Engineers.
