Find Forestry expertise in Malaysia

Forestry, together with agriculture and fisheries, contributes 10% to Malaysia’s GDP (2008). 63.6% of Malaysia’s land area is covered in forest, with 18.3% of this figure being primary forest (2011). Whilst much of the primary forest seems to be protected, from 2000-2005 annual change in forest cover ran at -140,200 ha. Significant forestry products include rubber, palm oil and timber. Rubber exports bring billions of dollars (US) into the country. The forestry sector is the responsibility of the Ministry of Plantation Industries and Commodities.
