Most schools in Nauru are state-run, offering free education for all and transportation by school bus, while parents must meet costs such as uniforms, excursions and stationery. The National Sustainable Development Strategy focuses on improving primary and secondary school attendance ratios and matriculation rates as well as developing a new national curriculum. Kayser College is a Catholic private school in the Ewa district, though it is heavily subsidised by the government, offering classes from pre-school to year 10 of secondary school.
