Find Electricity and Power expertise in Saint Lucia

Saint Lucia is almost solely reliant upon fossil fuels as its source of electricity. Latest data shows that all of the electricity is derived from oil, mainly sourced from the nearby islands of Trinidad and Tobago. Due to the small size of the Saint Lucian market, the country only has one electricity provider, Saint Lucia Electricity Services Limited (LUCELEC), who are a publicly held company established in 1964. LUCELEC operates power stations equipped with diesel generators and supplies electricity to nearly all commercial, industrial and domestic establishments on the island. Saint Lucia does not import or export electricity. The Public Utilities Department of the Ministry of Communications, Works, Transport and Public Utilities has regulatory oversight of the electricity sector. Saint Lucia is involved in the Eastern Caribbean Geothermal Development Project which aims to develop geothermal energy resources.
