National Agencies
There are many government agencies in Singapore working across many areas, including capacity building, finance, health, education and sustainable development. National agencies are publicly funded bodies, commissions, state-owned enterprises or authorities whose establishment and operations are backed by an Act of Parliament. The list of national agencies includes organisations such as the Monetary Authority of Singapore; the Singapore Tourism Board, which aims to make tourism an economic pillar within the country through long-term strategic planning; Temasek Holdings, the country’s sovereign wealth fund; the Singapore Accreditation Council (SAC), which ensures the conformity of all aspects of educational assessment within the country; and the International Enterprise Singapore, whose aim is to spearhead the overseas growth of Singaporean enterprises and to promote international trade.
