The Foreign Investment Division of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Employment is the Solomon Island’s primary investment promotion agency. The Division promotes and facilitates investment in various sectors of the country’s economy by identifying potential investment opportunities and establishing investment projects. The Government’s Rural Development Programme, supported by the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID), is part of government initiatives to increase public and private investments in rural areas, in order to create jobs and strengthen the economy in rural parts of the country. Other economic development agencies include Solomon Islands Visitors Bureau, Commodities Export Marketing Authority and the Central Bank of Solomon Islands.
