Solomon Islands is generally recognised by independent observers as a nation with unfettered freedom of the press. The major publications are the daily newspaper English-language Solomon Star and the weekly newspapers Solomons Voice and Solomon Times. The prominent monthly publications are Agrikalsa Nius and Citizen’s Press. There are no TV services based in the Solomon Islands, but Australia’s ABC, BBC World and other satellite TV stations can be received. The public broadcaster Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation (SIBC) operates the national stations Radio Happy Isles, Wantok FM and provincial stations Radio Happy Lagoon and Radio Temotu. Private commercial radio stations include Paoa FM and ZFM 100.
