Find Media and Broadcasting expertise in Tuvalu
Tuvalu is recognized by independent observers to be a country with complete freedom of expression and media. Such freedom is provided for in the country’s constitution and respected by the government. The state-owned Tuvalu Media Corporation (TMC) publishes the fortnightly newspaper Tuvalu Echoes in both Tuvaluan and English, and the government newsletter Sikuelo o Tuvalu in Tuvaluan.
There is no Tuvalu-based television station, but islanders have satellite dishes to receive foreign channels. Radio Tuvalu is an FM station run by TMC, which includes BBC World Service relays. Tuvalu Telecommunications Corporation (TCC) is the sole provider of telecommunications services to the islands and Tuvalu.tv is the main internet service provider. In 2014 TTC signed a deal with Kacific, which has seen broadband internet services provided to the islanders, greatly increasing Tuvalu’s connectivity.
A couple of websites report on news from across the Pacific: Islands Business and Pacific Islands News Association.
